Get in shape now!

Hello everyone! I wanted to discuss exercise and how most people lack it in their daily lives. I recently started to go back to the gym because I had a back injury before. It was so very hard to start training again as I had lost all the strenght and endurance that I had before. I used to able to lift at least 30 pounds more than I can today. Well, it is all part of the process of getting fit and losing some of that fat that just is not supposed to be there.
Everyone should start doing daily exercise as people are getting incredibly fat! I just need to go outside of my house and there you go 10 fat people walk by. We live in a world of comfort food and not preparing any food at home for ourselves. Every single one of you that is reading this should get out of their chair and sign up at a gym! Not only will you get fit and lose that excess fat, you will also get to meet new people every day that. It will give you a chance to socialize with others instead of doing it by the internet. Have to get in better shape for my wife, he he.

There getting audacious now!

Hello everyone! I haven't been posting for several days now...I have been busy starting a new job and I want to make a good impression since these are my first few days on the job. I guess everyone has seen what has been happening recently in Mumbai. I just can't believe how audacious terrorists are getting now! They are reporting that 125 people were killed with the bomb blast and I am assuming that it also counted the people they shot in the Taj hotel as well. As I write this, commando units have "engaged" the perimeter. Actually the stand off is over now as they went in last night to rescue anyone trapped inside. They did have stiff resistance from the gunmen but were eventually subdued by well trained Indian commando units. The terrorists planned this for a long time and was thought out because they had specific places where they entranched in. They were and everyone knows that they were targeting foreigners; especially those with American or British passports. There was also an incident during night time when CNN's Sara Sidner was shoved with her camera who was even tipped over!
Things are getting crazy around the world...for the past two weeks they were also talking about Somalian pirates stealing an Oil tanker destined for the U.S. I find it incredible that we have modern pirates in our seas! It doesn't really concern me what happens around that country because their governments are so corrupt that it's almost encouraged to screw over anyone that you can to get ahead. What does worry me is that my father in law is working in South Africa on a boat. He is an engineer and really good man to be around with. I know that he is careful and would not jeopardize his life because his family comes first.
The world is getting crazy isn't it?

Grey Cup fever baby!!

GREY CUP THIS SUNDAY!!!! I have tickets and they are real good seats as well. I am yet still to decide who I will invite to the game this Sunday because I don't know that many people who like Football at all actually.

It will be the Montreal Alouettes against Calgary's home team Stampeders. Over the years, the Alouettes have been working hard to regain the Grey cup for its home team. In 2002, they won the cup and Montreal went into a fury of happiness. I also remember that there was lots of trouble from our fans and the opposing teams outside the stadium. There was somewhat a riot outside...I know that it does not make much sense to have a riot over a sport, but what can you do about that when people are too happy or have no common sense.

I hope that this year will be a different scenario from our fans and I hope that our home team will win the Grey cup as they have been working hard to be there this Sunday.

Did you know that Canadian football teams are not payed as well as our southern neighbours! I remember that some of the Alouettes players came to my high school...some 10 years. A student asked how much they were paid and they told us not much. Actually, they make about $45000-50000 per year. Now if you compare that to an American team...were talking about at least a 2 million dollar difference for each player. I know for a fact that they play more for the love of the sport than for money. I guess some players are hoping to get foot into the NFL, but that is just helpful wishing and a dream.

Lets see who will win: the Alouettes or the Stampeders!

China / Taiwan -- Language

After being to China and Taiwan, I just wanted to elaborate how different both countries are. I will do some comparisons with their languages (dialects) as I know that most people cannot tell the difference between a Chinese and a Taiwanese person. You guys have no idea how many times I heard people say, "are you Chinese?" to someone and they would blur back "I am not Chinese I am Taiwanese"...or vice versa!

China uses Mandarin as their national language throughout their country. However, it is not the only dialect that they have! There are over 46 dialects of Chinese on the mainland and this obviously creates many situations where they don't even understand each other. This is the main reason why the communist government implemented Mandarin as their common language. This dialect is much simpler than it's old counter-part traditional Chinese. Even so, the many instances of confusion, misunderstanding, common verbal words are all messed up the more west you go in China. If we compare it to Taiwan, there are not many dialects. They do speak Mandarin but they use traditional characters in every day use. If you compare a traditional character with a simple one you can see the beauty of the traditional way of writing compared to the new. Well, they also Taiwanese, Hakka among other tribal dialects more from the northern part of Taiwan. The big difference in this case is that most Taiwanese understand each other in every way! Taiwanese and the other dialects have huge similarities that make it that much easier to understand. I studied Mandarin at my university and it is very hard to learn. However, I understood quite quickly that Mandarin is much simpler to learn in writing compared to the traditional way; unless you were born in Taiwan or the most southern parts of China.

How they speak to others is huge in my opinion. I can always clearly remember that Taiwanese or the people from there spoke very well and with clarity. I would always have a hard time understanding my Chinese teacher at school as his speech was too deep and used the throat much too often to express so many words. I should add that in China many of their words if you write in pinyin (common language) would end with "er". I cannot stress how annoying it was to hear it because it made it that much harder to understand the person. A friend of mine that was in my class was Taiwanese and when she spoke, it was crystal clear!

I'll try to write more but I am quite busy lately!

Affordable shopping

As the years pass by, our Christmas shopping list seems to be getting more and more expensive. If you want to save a lot of money and still enjoy buying those gifts for your loved ones then Kmart 25,000 quality gifts under $25 would be great for you. There is a wide array of goods that everyone would like to have even if they are at lower prices. I have growing cousins that would benefit from some new cloths that I would get such as a Basic Edition Boy's fleece Lined Full Zip sweater for those cold winters priced at $17.49. I know that my friend would benefit greatly from an Eventflo Position and Lock Plus Gate for only $24.99. His baby is always running around and planning for something to break. I know that wife loves to take a relaxing bubble bath at night to ease the stress of daily life away. I would absolutely buy her something for her to relax every night before bed time. The Body Image Sweet Luxury Slipper Gift would be a thoughtful gift and it's inexpensive also at $12.99. At price I'll be able to buy her something like a Soho Dual handle Cosmetic Travel Bag for $11.99. There are so many things that I could buy for everyone else and I can still stick to my budget, which is what everyone would like to do sometimes. Remember a lower price doesn't mean lower quality because the gifts you bought are from the heart!

Friday's interview

This past Friday, I had an interview for The insurance for the National Bank of Canada. There was no doubt in my mind that I was excited about this interview. I currently work for Metro and the only thing that I do is assemble boxes unto a pallet. You can imagine how boring that can be when I am an educated man with a university degree. However, in life you have to work to make money so I do what I have to do to get it.

So I went to the interview well dressed as one should be when meeting the people that want to potentially hire you! I am sick right now and I was still sick Friday as well. So you can imagine how bad I looked with puffy eyes, runny nose and coughing. I am a man so as women know, we are the biggest babies ever when we are sick. I arrived there 15 minutes before my interview started. I always arrive early as it gives me time to compose myself and to think of the questions they could ask me.

Time passed by and the woman that I was meeting came to get me. We introduced each other and I told her I was sick. She said, "Oh my goodness I don't want that. I have enough at home with my son and husband." We both laughed because the way she said it was utterly ridiculous. We went to the working area and I had to fill out some papers to declare I am not a criminal and I have no outstanding debts. These are precautionary measures usually made by big companies to insure they are not related to any crimes!

Afterwords, I went to the interviewing office where there was another man waiting. He was there to take extra notes as she was asking the questions. If it were only her, we would have been there for several hours. So she asked many questions relating to my working experience and then came the part that I do not like at all. Situational questions that you have to answer as best as possible. I felt confidant that day as I knew this job was for me and I wanted it. However, I never gave a hint of over-confidence because employers do not like that. The situation was if I had a store selling cellphones. A customer would come in (the guy would be the customer) and I would try to sell him a cellphone and whatever I could spare. I had to either sell a $19.99 or $79.99 phone. So asked my questions to see what kind of customer he was. He wanted something in case of emergencies. I tried to sell the $19.99 phone as it was affordable and could be used in emergencies. I made some things I went on but he wanted more. I offered him a second phone for $12.99 if he bought a blue tooth earpiece at $9.99. An instant sale and the interviewers were very satisfied of my way of selling the phones.

They asked me if I had some questions about the job and I did. I asked away and they answered. I hope they call me this Tuesday or Thursday as she said for an answer. I will cross my fingers and I hope you guys cross them too!

Brother being ganked!

While I was writing my opp., I heard my brother scream because he was being killed by the same person in his game many times. We bought the expansion to World of Warcraft this week and poor bro...he keeps getting killed over and over again. Kinda kills the mood to play his game though! Well, that's the pain of playing that game but he enjoys every minute of it. Yes, I think he even enjoys screaming at his game sometimes.

Christmas shopping the fun way!

If you're like me, then you haven't even started doing your Christmas shopping yet! I work well over 40 hours per week and just with my work load, it does not give me the opportunity and time to go Christmas shopping. Thankfully, I found out about the Kmart Layaway program that makes shopping much easier and with less stress of waiting in lines. Instead of going out to do your shopping you will have the chance to do it in the comfort of your own home.

I for one am highly interested in purchasing fitness products for myself and Kmart has an extended list of them. I found some Everlast medium gel gloves for only $14.99. Those would be perfect to relieve my stress when going to my boxing classes! However, I have been searching for a nice gift for my youngest cousin for this Christmas and I found the perfect gift for him. My cousin loves Lego and Kmart's Layaway program offers Star Wars Lego! So I will be purchasing Lego Star Wars At-AP Podwalker for $39.99, which is a real good buy!

This holiday season Kmart will be making my shopping experience much better than previous years. If you're looking for a stress free way to shop and low prices Kmart's Lay program is the way to go.

Good intentions might be bad!

I was going to write something China has I had mentioned in an earlier blog; however, this story came to my attention. Recently, South Korean activists have been sending propaganda leaflets to North Korea. They have been doing it in a creative way I might add. They put their propaganda inside clear plastic bags. Then they inflate the bag with helium, which will make float in the air with the wind.

What is dangerous about this situation is that officially, both Korea's are still at war. Over the past several years, South Korea has made tremendous efforts to bring N.Korea closer to them via stronger economic ties. It is only recently that both sides have removed loud propaganda speakers on the boarder towns of the DMZ. A quick side note for those of you who do not know that DMZ means. It is the Demilitarized zone and it is a buffer zone between both countries. It is the most heavily concentrated area of landmines int he world; covering the entire DMZ except within the Joint Security Area. N.Korea also seems to be very sensitive to any kind of information relating to them even more when it comes to their great leader Kim Jong-il.

The activists were told to stop sending propaganda towards the north, but they have not stopped. Since it is so easy to send helium bags with the right wind path, they keep doing it as to inform their fellow Koreans on the health of their leader. There were resent reports that he had suffered a stroke but that kind of news would never reach the outside of his compound. What surprises me more is that authorities haven't arrested them on charges of propaganda distribution or something more relevant to that. Although they do mean well with their acts, they are endangering an already fragile truce for the moment. Here's hoping their wont be another needless war between them as the world is already messed up as it is!

Honor our veterans, liberty and memories of those we lost

Today is Remembrance day and I hope that everyone gave a moment on the 11 hour at the 11 minute as tribute to our veterans. It is the 90th anniversary of the Wars to end all wars.
This day makes me think of my grandfather that I had never the chance to meet. He served in WW2 and his father before him in WW1. It is because of men such as them that we have the freedom of choice our liberty that we so take for granted sometimes. As I was doing my exercises for my back I took special attention to the time. Once it reached 11h11am I stopped and gave my prayers to those who lost their lives and to our courageous soldiers serving abroad. They gave their lives so we may live on in relative peace.
Around the world, nations whom had lost more than a heart can take remembered their men as if they were never gone. Australia. Britain, Canada, France and the U.S. suffered millions of deaths in fields no bigger than a farm. I salute them all as I am proud of every one of our soldiers! Even today, we still wage war in the name of freedom and to give freedom of choice to those who do not have any.
When I gave a moment, the people at the clinic were looking at me as if I was doing something wrong. They were wondering what I was doing, but I was even more surprised that they would not give a moment of prayer in remembrance! As I have said numerous times, I am from Quebec and the people here during WW1 fled the conscription as they opposed the war. The coming of WW2, the lowest enlistment was from Quebec once again. In our schools here, (French schools) Remembrance day is not even implemented as I think it is disrespectful. Our youth have no idea about their history as they do not care of it nor does the French school system. How can we have a respectable society when our youth spit on the graves of those who would and have protected them. Today, this is my opinion and I am not afraid nor care about others thoughts about my opinion. Where has our dignity gone to when the rest of Canada remembers with their hearts and tears for lost of loved ones.
Please look at this video done by the Canadian government: http://video.google.ca/videosearch?q=Remembrance+day+ad+English&hl=en&emb=0&aq=f#
Long live our veterans, peace, liberty and most of all our cherished memories of them.
LEST WE FORGET
GOD BLESS

China / Taiwan relations -- Chen Shui-bian perspective

Can you believe the news that Taiwanese ex-president Chen Shui-bian expected to be arrested over allegations that he used money from a special presidential fund! Ever since the new president was put into office, (Ma Ying-jeo) there have been growing political attacks on Chen.
During Chen's office, there was good economic growth and the dialogue between China & Taiwan was good at best. What stopped the ex-president from fully declaring Taiwan an independent country was a military invasion from Mainland China. China doesn't even hide the fact that they would attack if they declared Independence! It was even told on state news (from my own sources) that if Taiwan would not cede their "rogue status" they would reclaim the Island by 2020. We all know that would never happen because of the economic sanctions that almost every country would put on them. Moreover, the U.S. would never allow them to pass the Taiwan Strait without any military repercussions from their battle cruisers that are stationed in the Pacific region.
Chen is a strong advocate for Taiwanese Independence and he was never afraid to say so. During his time as president, he often defended the people first before putting his political career in the spot light. Is it not convenient to put someone else in trouble while the other tries to shine in an adversaries eyes! That is what Ma Ying-jeo is trying to do by making Chen look bad in the media and to please China. All know the reasons why he does so, but his thought is to bring Taiwan & China closer in economic relations than Chen did. The people know that if China gets too close and Taiwan gives liberty for closer ties such as: tourism and Chinese investment in Taiwanese companies; they will eventually be stuck with their bitter rival or consumed by them.
I'll be posting many things on China in the coming days, so I hope you enjoy the reads!

Turning a blind eye to the Filipino sex trade - part two

As promised, my second article of the Filipino sex trade. I did mention that I will be reviewing a documentary that was aired on the CBC's The Lens in 2007 entitled "Selling Sex in Heaven." On a side note, it is narrated by Kieffer Sutherland which brings a calm and collected voice. Moreover, I will put a link which will enable all to view the documentary if willing. I strongly recommend that you do so because you will better understand this world that so many women live in.
The documentary follows the life struggle of one girl named Mila. She lives in Angelas city one of the most popular destinations for sex tourism in southeast Asia. She works at a bar called "Heaven" on blowjob alley. She works long hours to support not only herself, but also sending money to her family. Mila is only 21 years old! As many girls, she was sold without knowing it at a young age and left to fend for herself in this new disturbing world. Survival is the key word and the fate that they have, "...that a white man will bring them home with them" is so strongly engraved in their minds. I wont elude the fact that I find it terribly sad that they would think that. Men that do go there are there for one specific reason and that's for cheap sex! Mila has a boyfriend as she's mentioned. You can clearly see in the picture that he is much older, but he does give her hope of a better future. They clearly live day by day lives as they never know if some foreigner has malicious intents; however, they blindly trust them as they welcome them with open arms.
"They wave at me and wink at me" as professor Stephen Perrott mentions. The men there all think everyone else is up to the same thing they are. A somewhat disturbing thought as many men are so much older. I wont go into older men marrying younger women as that is a sensitive subject and I am not one to criticize others choices. It's like living in a fantasy world when they are with younger women. The professor also brought along two young girls as interns. Coming to a third world country trying to make a difference is admirable; however, seeing the bad nature of the sex trade just might be too much for them to handle. You will be surprised at how easy the girls talk about their trade, but you can see in their eyes the pain and fear of doing what they do. The documentary also speaks of the Catholic Church; however, I feel that you the reader should form your own opinion on this particular segment!
The most compelling part of this short video is that of the casas! These are were local Filipino men go for sex. Yes, casa does mean house...but once you see the segment, you would never call this a home. The women are subjected to relative slavery as they are kept in small 8x4 rooms 24hours a day. They are only allowed to go out if a client chooses her services. Imagine living your young life cornered in a small room until you are deemed useless to men because you have lost your beauty! The first time I saw this documentary in 2007, I was shocked to learn that men would subject young girls to such barbaric slavery! You will be shocked or amazed at their situations, but there seems to be almost no choice for these young women. As a police woman put it bluntly, "...they're slaves. Imagine how they were treated when they were given their food. I can't describe...As if you see a dog eating under a table."
I wont say how it ends nor should I. I leave it up to the readers to look at the video and form their own opinions. I hope I have brought you a little closer to their reality and how these girls live day by day. Remember that it is difficult to write or talk about such a subject, but I am happy to have the freedom to express it here for everyone to see.
Do not accept to install any program just cancel and it will play if ever this happens.
Thank you for reading!

Education and work aren't what they used to be!

I was supposed to post something else, but this subject has been on my mind for a long time. We are always told that to get a real good job, you have to go get an education. I wasn't too good at school when I was younger, but I was told many times that I should go to school to get a better job. I applied to Concordia university and I was accepted...only after they refused the two degrees that interested me most: Business and Teaching. I wont hide it that I was disappointed to go into my 3rd choice, which was Classics. This degree is not dancing like a ballerina but a degree relating to study of ancient Greek & Roman literature, archeology and history. You have to know how to write really well, be able to research detailed information and be most of all...to remember almost everything! I also took a minor in Chinese language. I met different kinds of people from different degrees and the one thing that surprised me are the number of people that aren't even smart enough to be doing what they are doing! I met people that are in marketing, international business and I knew more than them in almost anything. It happened more than once that I helped many people in those fields because they literally were horrible. However, they had good grades when they applied for those degrees so they must be good, right?
Entering the real world can be ugly. I have been working since I can legally work and I never had a problem finding a part-time job when I was in school. After I graduate, my job finding was like hitting a titanium wall with hooks that kept you there. Companies today have literally no idea how capable or smart one is even if they don't have the relevant degree to get the job. I have applied to so many positions in many fields. Mostly all were rejected because I didn't have the experience required. It's a simple and nice way of telling you, "We don't want you because your degree is garbage and you'll never be able to get a job here." That might be putting it a bit bluntly, but I am totally right! The only places that do call me are call centers...Don't get me wrong because call center jobs are good when you're going to school but not for a career. I have on several occasions been called to be told I haven't been retained for the job. I would ask them, "why?" They would just answer, "You don't have the experience necessary to do the job." I remember replying twice at this by saying, "How am I supposed to get the experience necessary if you don't give me a chance to prove myself?" That's how it is in today's job market. They hire good people that have experience or the degree needed and that's OK. However, many other people that are employed are just plain idiot at what they do, but they had a bigger mouth than me at the interview.
It might seem that I am complaining, but that is the reality of today's job market. We employ the wrong people in the right positions and we employ the right people at the lowest paid jobs. I know that I will work hard to be my own boss because I have the capacity to have my own company and the will to do so!
Thanks for reading my complaints, he he.

Resistance of man 2 -- review

I thought it would be a good change to review a game that my friend had recently bought: Resistance 2 for the PS3. I was looking forward to the release of this game as the first one was very good. Although it was one of the earlier titles of the PS3 it was very popular and had good sales.
The second instalment takes place on U.S. soil in 1951 or 52 if I am not mistaken. When I started the game, I was expecting a really good CG scene before accepting to do a new game. There was no CG, but there was one after you started a new game! I stayed happy at that point and was ready to start the game. So you are brought back to the U.S. as you were infected by the Chimera and like magic 2 years pass by and you wake up in an underground facility being invaded by the Chimera. I didn't get much of the story because you aren't told too much about an elite team that you're assigned to. Only that they are also infected. As I roamed around, I noticed that the graphics were much better than the first one. The game seemed to run much more smoothly than it did before. The action part of the game is extremely good as they increased the enemy AI a notch from the first game. The first impression you get you see a huge Chimera walking above you is simply amazing. They definitely didn't hold back on the hugeness of enemies this time around. I found that I died quite often right off the bat! It took me a good 20 minutes to get over the learning curve again and voila!
The action is intense and I was really expecting a good game; however, what really killed me is how fast we managed to finish the game...It took us a total of about 8 hours to finish the game! I was telling my, "What?? Already finished the game!!!" The game costs in Quebec $59.99 +taxes. My friend had just spent about almost $70 for a game that we finished in no less than 8hours. And we didn't even play 8 hours straight either. We actually took our time to enjoy the game, but it's just too short for that price. This would be the only negative thing I would have to say about Resistance 2. If you have an active Internet connection the game becomes a gank fest of laughter as you are pitted against players around the world! In spite of that, the game is really amazing to play and will make many people drool over their PS3's for a long time.

Turning a blind eye to the Filipino sex trade - part one

If this subject bothers you or you feel disgusted by the mere subject, please do not read the following as it may disturb certain people! All opinions are those relating to arguments and facts that are available to me; henceforth, there is no judgement about anyone only facts!

The sex trade is always a subject of contention because it is rampant in many third world countries and nothing is really done about it. Many have tried to lure young girls or boys away from this trade as they are exploited at such a young age. I will try to discuss the forming of this trade as it was highlighted during the Vietnam war. I will also be touching the social and economic impact it has on Filipino society.

Ever so often, you will see an article or a blog that will dwell into the depths of the sex trade in the Philippines. It is very hard to write about this subject as there are so many diverging opinions about it; however, I will try my best to explain myself. We seldom hear from sex tourists (foreigners) of how women are cheaper than the beer you buy! The Vietnam war has been a huge factor in the growing number of young women offering their bodies...for a price of course! We know for a fact that during the Vietnam war, a U.S. presence in the form of the Clark Air base was instrumental in the growing sex trade in Manila. As in many countries during war, the lack of immediate entertainment gave rise to new pleasures found locally. You can imagine how far one Filipino could go with several dollars back in those days, so it became "more accepted" if you will with other Filipinos. Angeles being the closest to the base was a prime hot spot for a flourishing red light district that this day, is still a prime spot for tourists and sex tourists alike. Although the U.S. army abandoned the base and all it's facilities, Filipinos and expats have found good use for the infrastructure. I cannot deny that it is neither sides fault for the sex trade to rise up so dramatically.

As human nature demands, we must survive and make sure our lineage survives as well. This is something that many people have a hard time understanding. I don't like that some people come to the Philippines just for cheap women! It is a beautiful country that has much to offer to the world, but much of it has been unseen by the world. Unfortunately, it is a very poor country that hugely depends on tourism and OFW money to survive in an ever growing world. Literally thousands of young women every year turn to the sex trade to support their families. It can be a sensitive subject to criticize as the majority to it for their children's sake. They want to grow a healthy, educated and a non-impoverished life compared to what they had. As an average Filipino family has 5-6 children, you can start to understand why some of them do what they do to survive. The economy also plays a huge factor on these women. On average per month a person can make as little as 5000 php per month! If we compare this too our standards, it is bare minimum to survive! A GRO (Guest relation officer) as they are called now can make pretty good money if they put their minds to it. Some of these women enjoy what they do as it gives them a good revenue for themselves. Others are not as fortunate because the majority once again do not chose it by choice, but as a necessity to survive. Some girls are eve sold into relative slavery because of debt, false promise of getting a job or other deceitful promises.
This is only a small fraction of what I could say, but it is only to inform the reader YOU of what is happening in another country. Remember that you might not agree with their choice, but just trying to understand how these women live will guide you a step closer to humanity. In part two, I will discuss a news report that was aired on CBC's The Lens in 2007 in titled "Selling sex in Heaven". The documentary opened my eyes to the reality of the Filipino sex trade and how brutal it can be to these poor girls. If you have any comments I would be pleased to read them and reply...thank you!

A new beginning for the world

I didn't need to go to bed last night knowing who would have won the U.S. presidential elections. Watching CNN as the night passed by, I was surprised at first at how McCain had an advance in the east coast. However, that all changed once most of the polling stations were closed and Obama gained seats like hot little muffins. As of now, Americans can be happy to have a new beginning with Barack Obama. I listened to Obamas speech which was the same old rethoric as before and then to McCains speech. I was utterly surprised at how McCain gave his best speech of the whole campaign! You have to give the old man some credit for going the whole way. I don't know if some of you saw this, but they even had a close up of a man that had a Nazi tattoo on his neck!
I kept hearing "African-American" during the whole campaign...let us get one thing straight: the majority of U.S. voters are white at a %74 statistical number. Do you think they cared if he was black or not? It's not because of the skin color that he won; It is because the man has charismatic character that resonates in voters values and minds today! It is a fact that he is the first African-American to be president and that's great because the U.S. is a multicultural society just like Canada. Although they do have a much higher black population than Canada. So if you were thinking he is president because black people went out to vote than you're thinking wrong. Actually, they are the lowest ethnic population to vote in the U.S. except for this presidential election.
"Change", that's what Obama kept saying during his campaign. As a young voter myself, I understand what he meant by change. I have strong moral values, but in today's crazy world people think differently than one another. Coming January 24th 2009, Barack Obama will be sworn in as president and at that point in time the real challenge will begin. Here are some points that I think Obama will have to concentrate on to succeed:
  • The economy
  • Withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq & Afghanistan
  • Domestic problems such as education and health care
  • Fix relations with allies i.e: CANADA

That is a small number of points that I could think of as of now. I wrote to fix relations with Canada because we are the U.S.' closest ally. Over a span of 8 years, our relations have never been as low as they are now! An effort with us would go a long way in improving economic relations among many other things.

Here's hoping Obama will create less craziness than the republicans have done over 8 years! I know that he is up to the challenge, but there are so many things to fix that it might take 2 presidential terms to make things right.

The end of the world apparently

According to my brother, if John McCain wins the presidential elections it will be the end of the world. I wouldn't go as far as saying it would be the end of the world, but he would definitely be a good candidate for more war in the middle east. I admire that he has a military record and he has served his country when it was needed. I respect this because lots of men in my family line have been to war! However, in an age of crazyness where you have to watch your back, your wallet and everything in between...Obama would be a nice change to the U.S. electorate. Obviously not everyone agrees with his ideology, but would you rather keep sending young men & women to their deaths or have peace domestically first with relative peace around the world. I think I am just doing some "wishful thinking" on my part. I am a Canadian and I do believe if push comes to shove action might be needed; however, I am also a conservative man with good moral values. I will probably go to bed tonight before ever knowing who will be the next president of the U.S. To be honest I don't really care that much about U.S. politics, but it has always been a favorite of mine as the American media exagerates every little thing with perfect detail. I wonder if Canadian politics would ever be as entertaining as our southern counter-parts! Let us hope for the best when we wake up tomorrow because tomorrow's post will discuss the results and how the U.S.' future president will fair in a "negatively viewed country" over the past 8 years!

One day left to US elections

Tomorrow will be one of the most important days in 2008. The US presidential elections will finally decide on the victor between Barack Obama or John McCain. As a Canadian, we are always concerned as who will be the next president. Our economic situation with the US has always been fragile as their own economy is worsening as days pass by. There are many subjects that I could talk about, but in all situations I would like to see Obama be the next president. It is not because he would be the first African-American that he deserves it; it is because his ideology is between the same lines as mine. It is true that the US has gone down in public opinion around the world; however, I am sure a new president will be able to fix so many domestic problems that they have compared to the problems they have abroad. Just like Canada, the U.S. should concentrate on domestic issues first to aid Americans in every day life.

Boring day...

Another boring day staying at home not doing much...I played World of Warcraft trying to get myself some better gear before the expansion comes out. I thought about my wife a lot as usual...I miss her so very much! I went to eat at Subway, but there was only one person serving. I gave the poor girl some tip because she was running around like a rabbit. I am waiting for Anna to come back online at the moment...
